SQUARE ONE ENDORSES BRIDGET BRINK FOR U.S. HOUSE

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 19, 2026 - Today, Square One — which seeks out the most promising Democratic women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community to run for Congress in long-overlooked red districts and states — is excited to endorse Bridget Brink for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District.

“Bridget has been on the front lines of diplomacy and understands what’s at stake for our country,” said Tony Vargas, Executive Director of Square One. “As Ambassador to Ukraine, she stood up for our allies in a moment that demanded real leadership. Now, we need that same strength here at home. This is a must-win race, and flipping this seat is critical to moving our country forward. She’s exactly the kind of leader who can win — and deliver — for Michigan.”

Bridget Brink is a sixth-generation Michigander, third-generation union member, and proud Lansing, MI resident. After rising through the ranks and becoming the equivalent of a three-star general in the U.S. Foreign Service, Bridget served from 2022 to 2025 as the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine — making her the first female U.S. Ambassador to ever serve in an active war zone. Soon after Trump returned to the White House, she resigned and began speaking out against the administration’s policy of appeasing Putin. At her core, Bridget believes our nation must remain a beacon of freedom, and believes that the chaos and corruption coming out of Washington is costing the American people by raising the cost of living, cutting critical services, and threatening our very democracy.

“Bridget is running for Congress to take on rising costs and fight for Michigan families. She understands how global decisions impact everyday life — and as a mom of two boys, she’s navigating those same challenges at home. That’s why this fight is personal, and why she’ll bring battle-tested leadership to deliver for people — not the powerful.” – Tony Vargas, Executive Director of Square One

Bridget Brink is joining the current slate of Square One’s endorsed challenger candidates for the 2026 cycle including: Carol Obando-Derstine (PA-07), Christina Hines (MI-10), Denise Powell (NE-02), JoAnna Mendoza (AZ-01), Marni von Wilpert (CA-48), Randy Villegas (CA-22), and Rebecca Bennett (NJ-07).
